Richard's Report

Every time I re read the tour itinary, I become more excited about the adventure. Petra, Damascus, Amman, castles and camels how wonderful. Wadi Rum as only seen in photo is overwhelmingly beautiful. I remember watching the sky at night in the desert in Egypt and am happy that Victoria and Emily will soon see stars filling the desert sky. Emily is concerned that a tent in the desert is less than her usual acomodation but please imagine the romance of sleeping in a tent with your trusty camel tied outside and eagerly awaiting for you to wake up. Imagine the thrill of awakening to dress in the early light preparing your face and body for the day of desert life. She will later understand that the frills of pristine bathrooms are decadent. Victoria is concerned that she will be whisked away to a harem there to be given whatever food, clothes, jewelry and life she demands. Her father will protect her from such a fearful life regardless of the bride price he is offered.

I have jet lag between Seattle and Spokane. Imagine Seattle to Amman. The trip which when planned seemed much like a distant thought is close to being a reality. Blessed be to you, your camel, cat, dog or rabbit.

Remember the beautiful night sky in the desert. I know the girls will be amazed at all the stars shining so brightly.

Brenda and I remember well our funny camels. Mine was named "Henry".

Richard:
Emily is so looking forward to living in a tent, I can hardly wait to hear her comments on the blog. Everyone at work here is in anticipation for your blog on the trip. We will watch everyday for a word of poetic beauty.
